Description

Like other Korean folk songs, Kwe-Ji-Na Ching-Ching Na-Nae is passed down from generation to generation, and no one is sure about the meaning ofKwe-Ji-Na Ching-Ching Na-Nae. Originated in Gyeong-Sang Province (southern part of Korea), it was likely sung as a war (fight) song against Japan in 1592 (Im-Jin-Wae-Ran). The structure of this original folk song is antiphonal, the soloist sings verses with improvisation, and the choir responds with refrain. The melody is based on “Mae-Na-Ri-To-Ri” scale which is based on “mi-sol-la-do-re”, and the rhythm is based on “Ja-Jin-Mo-Ri-Jang-Dan”.
