Gahng-Sool-Lae is an ancient Korean dance to celebrate harvest. This celebration was done exclusively by women and
incorporates dancing, singing and playing. Usually, women hold hands together in a circle and spin, sing songs, and play
traditional games under the full moon on the Korean harvest-celebration day (“Chuseok”). Traditionally, a solo sings a
melody followed by the rest of the group singing the same melody. Harmony does not exist in traditional Korean music, but
the composer emphasized the text and melody by writing various harmonies.
